Spring Vibes

It may not feel like it for all us New Yorkers, but Spring is here! As the flowers begin to bloom, hopefully sooner than later, and the sun begins to peak out of this winter darkness, everybody needs some light and airy tunes to listen to. To get in the mood for Spring, I have compiled a playlist of all songs I've been listening to get ready to frolic in the breezy spring air. Hope you enjoy!

Untamed: Running Wild, Living Free

ThreadSence's spring lookbook is filled with festival fashion that embodies all free-spirited girls. From beautiful skirts paired with crochet tanks to lovely bohemian accessories, this lookbook will appeal to all bohemian goddesses. Set in the beautiful open country, the shoot makes me want to ride on a horse in wide open fields, with my hair blowing in the wind, but too bad I don't know how to ride horses...oh well. After seeing these long flowy skirts illuminated by the hazy sun, I am dying for summer to come so I can pull out my faded high waisted shorts and dainty floral dresses. Ahhhh summer needs to come sooner!! Until then I can just stare at these lovely sun streaked photos and dream about summer.

Music Update

The Neighbourhood! Hmm... who are they? If your wondering this question you better become quickly acquainted with this name. This five piece indie band from L.A. has been creating quite a buzz with their talent to artfully blend the genres of rock, R & B, and folk within their music. They may have been labeled a buzz-band (don't listen to those idiots!) , but these guys have a lot in store for us! From their recent album, dropped in January called "I'm Sorry... " my favorite songs have to be Sweater Weather and Female Robbery.

   I can't put in words how much I love their video for Sweater Weather! The black and white aesthetic of the video creates a lovely feeling of nostalgia. Watching it makes me want to hop on a plane to California and just drive down the sunny road of Sunset Blvd surrounded by palm trees. Oh and that convertible, so rad!! Make sure not to miss the end when the song slows down and the image flips upside down, really trippy and I love it!
   Make sure to check them out and keep an eye open for The Neighbourhood, they are definitely destined to do much in the future!

Tigers and Crocodiles and Apes! Oh My!

shirt from forever 21; jacket thrifted; headwrap urban outfitters;
studded gold bracelet urban outfitters
Excuse my novice photo shoot. I'm new to this whole blog world (or as people like to call it blogosphere but that word quite annoys me) and I don't have a professional photographer (hmm maybe I should send my mom to some classes but she didn't do that bad of a job haha).I wanted the main focal point to be my shirt, so I paired my tiger shirt with black jeggings and a neutral colored jacket. To give the outfit the finishing touches I added a gold studded bracelet, long necklace, and a gold headwrap. I put the combat boots to give the outfit more of an edge. Throughout the whole day, I had the "The Eye of the Tiger" stuck in my head and then I thought of Rocky ( which put me in a pretty good mood). I brought this shirt not only because its totally awesome (duh!) but it reminded me of Christopher Kane's collaboration with Topshop in 2009. The collection was full of rebelliousness with fierce crocodile tops and black leather dresses. In that same year, he included dresses with frightening, but totally rad, ape images in his own collection in 2009.

New Girl

    Hello there, to whoever is reading this, which is probably just my best friend but I have to start somewhere right?! My name is Lola and this is my first blog post, which is truly exciting!!!!!! ( p.s. don't mind my many exclamation marks I'm just jumping out of my seat about starting a blog and all the possibilities to come!!!)  I'm eighteen and in my last year of what people call high school, but I like to think of it more as a juvenile detention center where us students are trapped in cells to suffer through our angsty and cliché filled years of teenagedom. I have started this blog as a creative outlet where I can actually talk endlessly about fashion without my listener getting bored and nearly nodding just to shut me up (which often happens when I bring up anything fashion-related at the dinner table).
     It was a Friday night, I just came home from school and I was feeling unusually bored. I strolled into my bedroom and my magazines glowered at me from the bookshelf. Instantly, the thought popped into my head to start a mood board. Since that night, I haven't touched my crafts or have done anything creative. I used to scrapbook and draw, but as school became more intense I abandoned my creative pursuits and focused more on school. As I savagely scanned though my magazines, looking for pictures, I came across an article in an old Teen Vogue edition about Tavi Gevinson's collaboration with Rodarte for Target. Immediately, I googled her name and discovered her articulate and truly unique blog called Style Rookie. After scrolling through many posts of Style Rookie and discovering other fashion blogs such as Natalie Off Duty and Sea of Shoes, I became immersed in a whole community based on fashion. From that wonderful state of boredom, a blog was born!
